Enjoying Valentine’s Day When You’re Single

February 13, 2017

I know what you’re thinking. Single? You just got married 4 months ago. Did Tim get fed up with the fact that you haven’t shaved your legs since September?

No. No, I am still married, and am still having a competition with my husband for who can have the longest leg hair this winter.

But, neither of us are big Valentine’s Day people so I’m not about to put together a standard blogger gift guide of what candy you can buy your husband that you’ll end up devouring yourself while you’re sobbing, 5 episodes deep into This Is Us.

If you know me IRL, you know that pre-Tim I was single as single could be. You’d think Valentine’s Day would be depressing AF, but it was not at all! New Year’s Eve is the most depressing holiday (whether you’re single or not, honestly) but that’s another post for another day. Probably in 2018.

Anyway, if you are single on Valentine’s Day and are upset about it, here are some reasons you shouldn’t be sad and should enjoy the holiday instead.

1. Valentine’s Day this year is on a Tuesday. Everyone ones that Tuesday is the worst day of the week. Monday you’re at least coming off the weekend, and you’re prepared for it. Wednesday through Friday you’re in the home stretch. But Tuesday? The worst. My point is, if you were with someone, you’d expect them to celebrate with some overpriced fancy dinner. Who the hell wants to have their make-up and hair all did up on a Tuesday? NO THANKS.

2. Along with that, you’ve probably built up some expectation for Valentine’s Day for your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/cat to plan something over-the-top. Chances are, they might not (because it’s Tuesday) so you would just be let down.

3. Even if you’re not upset, you can pretend you are. And just have a bottle of wine and eat whatever you damn well please. Who doesn’t want to do that?

4. Want to binge watch a show? You can choose anything you want! There is no one stopping you.

P.S. You can still do all of this if you’re in a relationship. I can guarantee that Tim I will probably eat pizza and watch a show tomorrow night. Because, really, it’s just another Tuesday.

  1. Hahaha Tuesday really is the worst day of the week. I fully expect my cat to do something fancy. Maybe he’ll rub up against my leg a little longer than usual.
